Joan M. (Cook) Bei met Her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2023, she was 88 years old. She is survived by her son Robert A. Bei, MD of CA, her sister Loretta (Cook) Marinchak of FL, nephew Edward Marinchak, Jr. of NJ, niece Lisa (Marinchak) Poole of FL, second cousin Michael Kurimchak of NY, four grand nieces and nephews that she adored: Andrew Marinchak, Emily Marinchak, Robert Poole and Sierra Poole, and many other loving family members and friends.
Joan was born on August 5, 1934 in Peckville, PA to Leon & Mildred Cook. She graduated from Blakely High School in 1952. In the late 1950's she moved to Fishkill, NY where she began her long career at IBM eventually retiring from there in 1993. After her retirement from IBM, she started her 2nd career at Maranatha Human Services and remained there until the age of 79. Joan was an active member of The Gathering at Faith Assembly in Poughkeepsie– she was a devout Christian, always speaking the Word. Joan was also a member of The Center for Lifetime Studies, Red Hat Club, Germania Club, 40 days for Life and Três Dias. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, skier, gardener and loved to cook for others. Joan exuded love, strength and compassion to all those she met. "My house is the Lord's house and it's always open".
Joan is preceded in death by her mother (1958) and father (1973), her brother Leon Cook, Jr. (1991) and her brother in law Edward Marinchak, Sr. (2021).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11am at The Gathering at Faith Assembly Church, 25 Golf Club Lane, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
