Joan Benson Obituary
Connelly Springs, NC: Mrs. Joan Gail Benson, age 76 of Wortman Street, formerly of Benson, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Cashwell. Burial will follow in Benson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Benson.
Mrs. Benson was born on August 25, 1947 in Harnett County to late James Lloyd Benson and Esther Hargis Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Phillips; step-father, J.C. Smith; and a grandson, Aaron Michael Trivett. Mrs. Benson was a dedicated Christian. She always was willing to use her God-given talent playing the piano. For many years, she played for her home church as well as Friendly Chapel Church. Mrs. Benson retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections where she was in charge of the Medical and Mental Health Records.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her daughters, Amanda Sigmon and husband, Tim of Hickory, Melissa Mason and husband, Mark of Smithfield; grandchildren, Sarah Boston and husband, Chase, Samantha English and husband, Ethan, and Jordon Trivett; brother, Timmy Benson and wife, Linda; sister, Tracie Rhodes; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:45AM to 10:45AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to Benson Grove Baptist Church Music Ministry, 6966 Hwy 50 North, Benson, NC 27504 or Longview Church of God, 3776 Main Ave. Drive NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
