Joan B. Broecker, age 90 of Lapeer, passed away on November 12, 2024, in the comforts of home with her family by her side. She was born on January 29, 1934. Joan met Gerald Broecker in high school and they married on December 8, 1956 in Hadley, MI. Joan was a mother of six. She worked at Kroger for over 20 years. She was also a part-time sales representative for Avon. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and member of the Ladies' Guild for 40 years; life member of the Child's Study Club and 30 year member of MSU Extension.
Joan enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, dancing, crocheting, and playing Euchre with friends. She would frequently attend garage/estate sales, searching for antiques and adding to her vast doll collection.
Joan is survived by her children, Beverly Fick, Kevin (Corinne) Broecker, Sue Wood, Dan (Susan) Broecker, Gerald (Therese) Broecker Jr., Kathy (Richard) Baharozian; grandchildren Shelly Anderson, Dava Arthur, David (Christy) Fick II, Corey (Quinten) Grier, Jeremy (Rae) Broecker, Andrea (Tony McDonald) Broecker, Joshua Broecker, Maria Broecker, Rachael (Matthew) Robertson, Amanda Ferguson, Eric Jasper, and Mary (Eric) Heinzerling; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Tripp and Marilyn (Tim) Coulter; brother-in-law Lloyd (Jane) Broecker; sister-in-law Grace (Walter) Stewart.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gerald Broecker; parents George & Betty Schroeder; step-father Donald Pierson; siblings Jerry, Ronald, Wayne, Sharon and Diane Schroeder; sons-in-law David Fick and William Wood.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 3-8 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 90 Millville Rd, Lapeer, MI 48446. Rev. Jared Nies will officiate. Joan will be laid to rest at Stiles Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School.
