Joan Linda Brownstein, 76, of Manalapan, passed away Thursday evening, February 8th, surrounded by her loved ones.
Joan was born in Manhattan and raised in Franklin Square, Long Island, she was a graduate of H. Frank Carey High School. She would go on to become a successful Sales Manager with Aloe Charm before furthering her studies at Monmouth College, making Deans List. Following college, she went to work for the Monmouth County Courthouse where she was a Court Clerk, a job she would have for 25 years before retiring.
Joan married in 1969 and raised her two children in Freehold. She will affectionately be remembered for her love of music; she had a true passion for it. She sang, played the piano, and loved attending live concerts. She often travelled into Manhattan to see the latest Broadway shows or go shopping with friends. She loved words, whether she was doing a crossword puzzle, playing Words with Friends, or participating in her book club. Most of all, she cherished all the moments she spent with her grandson Ryder.
Joan is survived by her son Greg Brownstein (wife Shannon), daughter Jennifer Carpenter (husband Mark); brother Michael Gurtler (wife Rosalind); grandson Ryder; dearest friend Nicole Brownstein; partner John Neafsey.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, please continue to check Joan's page for updates.

I remember Joan from High School. I especially remember her as a member of the Thespian Guild and her work on various school projects. May you remember her in your thoughts daily and she will always be by your side.
