Pamela Lewis, 74, departed this life on September 2, 2021. She was the beloved mother of Emily McCue (Francis McCloskey); adoring grandmother of Lila and Gabriel; cherished sister of Roberta Lewis-Cacavale (Edward Cacavale); treasured aunt of Felissa Hayes and Adam Hayes. She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Tillie Lewis. Pamela was born in Coney Island, NY and grew up in Franklin Square in Long Island. She graduated from H. Frank Carey High School, where she maintained lifelong friendships. She went on to study illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. Pamela was a creative woman and a talented portrait artist. She captured a person's profile through charcoal sketches. Nearly everyone who knew her had one of her beautiful portraits. Through the years, you could find her drawing at festivals and feasts on Long Island or in a corner of a party drawing on a tablet. She found joy in making others happy with her artwork. She never knew how talented she really was. She moved from Long Island to Philadelphia in 2008 so that she could be part of her grandchildren's life. At the time, Emily and Fran were expecting a little girl, Lila. Little did she know that two years later, she would also be blessed with a grandson, Gabe. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren. They will fondly remember feeding carrots to the horses with her at the nearby farm, playing Jenga with her on Christmas Eve, and blowing bubbles in the backyard with her arsenal of bubble guns and wands. She knew how to make them happy and they always made her smile. In addition to the love she had of her family, Pamela will be remembered for her quick wit, strong nature, and her contagious laugh. We will miss that laugh terribly. She was a survivor of many of life's obstacles, which she persevered through with courage and humor. The world is a less interesting place without her. A private memorial service will be held in her hometown of Long Island, NY. Because Pamela enjoyed the company of pets, in lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to your local animal shelter or www.wagsresue.com.
