Joan Marilyn Caspar, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in Jackson, Michigan. She was born on March 2, 1936, in Holland, Michigan, to her parents, the late Gerald and Marie (Herbert) Robinson.
Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Caspar; sister, Frances Shutler; and brothers, Bert Kempker, Dan Kempker, and Rich Kempker.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Caspar, Marsha (Glenna DeJong) Caspar, Timothy (Jennifer Smith) Caspar, and Tracy (David) Spring; grandchildren, Trent, Austin, Dylan, Nicklaus, Samantha, Elizabeth, Calvin, and Sydney; great-grandchildren, Maeve, Remington, Henry, Briona, McKenna, Molly, and Maisy; sisters, Sharon Harness and Sandra Phelps; brother-in-law, Michael Shutler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan graduated from Michigan Center High School and earned her Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University and went on to teach elementary school for Jackson Public Schools for many years before her retirement. She was passionate about education and touched the lives of countless students throughout her career.
Joan was athletic and was known to excel at tennis and golf. She also had a love for game days including both board games and card games. She and her husband, Harvey, shared a love of travel and together explored many parts of the world. Above all, Joan cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her great joy.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbor North Living Center and Elara Caring Hospice for their excellent care, kindness, and compassion shown to Joan and her family.
