Raleigh Marshall Sr. passed away on October 19, 2025, surrounded by family at the Henry Ford Hospice House in Jackson, Michigan. Raleigh Marshall Sr. was born on July 6, 1945, in Marshallville, KY, to the late Arthur and Pearlie (Howard) Marshall.
He was a devoted companion to Penny (Elliott) Marshall for 33 years. He is survived by three sons: Richard (Shellie) Marshall of Pikeville, KY; Rodney (Roxanne) Marshall of Hanover, MI; and Randy Marshall of Salyersville, KY; and three daughters: Tonya Marshall, Nettie Marie (Jimmy) Collins, and Amy (Adam) Manns of Paintsville, KY; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; three stepsons: Joshua Elliott of Jackson, MI; Steven Bartley Jr. of Texas; and Joseph Bartley of Munith, MI; and four stepdaughters: Rebecca (Austin) Jervis, Elizabeth Bigelow of Prestonsburg, KY, Emily Bartley (Michael Allen) of Stockbridge, MI, and Barbara Bartley (Lance Gerber) of Jackson, MI. He leaves behind 26 step-grandchildren and three more expected. He is also survived by his sister, Emogene (Marshall) Push of Grass Lake, MI.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Misty Dawn Poe of Thealka, KY; two sons: Raleigh Marshall Jr. of Salyersville, KY, and Brandon Poe of Paintsville, KY; five brothers: Berrell C. Marshall of KY, Earl D. Marshall of AL, Jessie Marshall of Grass Lake, MI, Sonny Marshall of Grass Lake, MI, and Ross Marshall of Ypsilanti, MI; and three sisters: EvaLee Salyers and Lora B. Marshall of Salyersville, KY, and Patsy Schmell of Chelsea, MI.
Raleigh enjoyed being with his family and driving coal trucks back in the day in Kentucky. You would often see him in his garage working on something. He also enjoyed hunting and working on vehicles.
Cremation is taking place at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Michigan. Burial will take place at the Marshall Cemetery in Salyersville, KY, at a later date.
