A Celebration of Life service for Joan Chain, 93, will be 2:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Anderson-Burris Chapel. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery at Hunter, OK. Arrangements made by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Joan Phyllis Robinson Chain was born July 10, 1932, at Camargo, Oklahoma to Sam and Emma Robinson. She passed from this life to eternal life Friday, August 29th at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 19 days. After graduation from Camargo High School in 1951, she moved to Clinton, Oklahoma where she did domestic work and cared for children Don, Dale and Judy Rolison. Later she would move to Mooreland, Oklahoma where she worked in housekeeping at the Community Hospital. In 1955 she entered nurse's training at Enid Memorial Hospital, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1958. She then returned to Moreland Community Hospital where she served on the nursing staff. She would later begin a 37-year career at the General Hospital in Enid, Now the Bass Integris Hospital, where she would retire in 1997 at age 65. In 1988 she was honored to be named Employee of the Year at Bass Integris. Joan married Dale L Chain, Sr. in 1959 moving to the farm, northeast of Hunter, Oklahoma, to become a part of the "Chain Gang." She would reside there until she moved to Oklahoma City to care for her sister, Wanda. She would become a member of the Bethany First Assembly of God, teaching Sunday School and supporting the ministries of the church faithfully. She was loved and cherished by everyone who called the church their home. Joan did travel somewhat extensively visiting Panama, Canada, Alaska and several trips to Washington, DC. In addition, she participated in two mission's trips to Mexico with the Waukomis Baptist Church. Camping trips were often on the docket and some of the more exotic locations were Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee. One unresolved issue on her bucket list was to beat Christina at Scrabble – it never happened, and Christina even beat her to heaven as well. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Emma Robinson, Her husband, Dale, Sr. and a Stepson, Dale Jr. Also preceding her in death were a brother, John Robinson, two sisters, Jacqueline Faulk and Wanda Robinson as well as a granddaughter, Christina Zachgo and three step nieces. She is survived by two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Zachgo and husband LeRoy, Peggy Parrish and husband R.J. and a step-daughter in law, Sara Chain. Surviving grandchildren are Jennifer Chaney and husband Scott, Robert Parrish, Amanda Payne and husband Don, Diana Flores and husband Rick, Rebecca Greene and husband Nick, Trisha Chain, Johnathan Zachgo and wife Brittany. Surviving greatgrandchildren include, Brianna and Caleb Payne, Clinton and Kendyl Chaney, Ricky and Luis Flores, Lauren and Connor Greene, Addison Capps, and Brooklynn, Athena, Jocelyn Zachgo. She was additionally survived by several step nieces and step nephews from the Chain Gang.
