Joan Crocker passed away peacefully in June.

Joan was born in Harvey, Illinois, and she graduated from high school there. She met the love of her life, Don Crocker, through mutual friends. He was smitten as well. So smitten, in fact, that he learned how to dance for her and they tore it up together for fifty-six years.

They were a match made in heaven. Joan wouldn't let Don marry her until he graduated from college, because she knew she would get pregnant if she did. Joan was a wise woman!

Don and Joan had four children and four grandchildren. There was always a lot of love to go around as well as a lot of delicious home cooked food.

Professionally, Joan was a highly valued executive secretary. But most importantly, she was an outstanding mother and wife. She taught her children their faith. She taught her children to respect others, to respect property, to value education, to value safety, and to value integrity. She taught her children how to love.

She enjoyed cooking, water gun fights, pool parties, hanging out on the beach, and water skiing. She was enormously proud that she could ski on one ski. She was even a stand-up comedian impersonating the famous Phyllis Diller.

Most of all, she enjoyed bringing people together. After Don and Joan moved to Titusville, they became very friendly with the many wonderful people of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Joan's bright smile and gift for gab made her well known and loved. Even after Don passed, Joan was an active church member.

After she moved to assisted living, she was a favorite amongst the nurses. She was known for her sweetness and thoughtfulness. You can rest assured that she is in heaven, right next to Don.

A bright light went out on the earth, but it is now shining in heaven.

We'll miss you, Joan. You are in our hearts…always.
