Joan Dorrity went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 1 at the age of 75. She was a resident of Oakland, NJ.
Although her passing was unexpected and has left us grieving, we have much to be thankful for. Joan was a special person whose joy and trust in the Lord was evident to those who knew her. Her kindness and uplifting spirit touched everyone who came into contact with her.
Joan was actively involved at Hawthorne Gospel Church in a number of ministries including the Choir, Ladies Bible Study, Grief Share, & Senior ministries. She was also an active member of the Oakland Senior Center.
Joan was born on October 6, 1949 to parents Frank & Domenica Miller (Maccarone). She graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School. She married her first husband Dennis Dorrity in 1968, with whom she had two children: Dennis Jr. and Jessica. Through the years Joan worked at several positions; notably as an administrative assitant at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes, Salerno Duane Infiniti in Denville, and Saturn of Ramsey, where she met her loving husband Bill Pezzuti, to whom she was married for 18 years until his passing just over a year ago on 2/22/24.
She is survived by her son Dennis Jr. (Janeen), daughter Jessica, Bill's sons Jeff, Tim and Stephen, grandchildren Owen, Matthew, Gianna, Maggie, Alexa, Jared, Austin & Harley, and her brother Rick (Jo Ann).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday March 8 at 11am at Hawthorne Gospel Church, 2000 Route 208 in Hawthorne, NJ. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Joan may be made to Feed my starving children fmsc.org
