Myra Mitchell Dorrity, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Pastor Larry Davis and the Rev. Ricky Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. The interment will follow in the Mystic Cemetery, in Mystic, Georgia.
Ms. Dorrity was born January 17, 1950, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late James Edd and Minnie Dell Owens Mitchell. She was a business woman and received her Associates degree at ABAC in Tifton. She was self-employed with many business ventures and was very successful. Ms. Dorrity was an animal lover, especially her dogs. She loved everyone, and everyone had a spot at her table for meals and drinks. Her hobby was working which she very much enjoyed. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, and was the family matriarch.
She is survived by her children: Gene Mitchell & Candee, Jimmy Kent & Bree, Matthew Burke & Denae, and David Kent; grandchildren: Kristy, Gene, Morgan, Chance, Lilly, Madi, Trevor, Caige, Cooper, Carter, Captain, Coast, and Justin; 6 great grandchildren, siblings: Minnie Dorman, Nell Stephens, Charles Mitchell "Duck" & Sue, and Ann Holloway & Jimmy; several nieces and nephews and adopted family members also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Dorrity, and several brothers and sisters.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
