Joan Durow, 86, passed away on May 5, 2023, at Ecumen Centennial House in Apple Valley, MN, from natural causes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the SouthCross Community Church, Burnsville, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. White Funeral Home, Apple Valley, MN, is serving the family.
Joan Anne Heilbrun was born on August 13, 1936, in San Francisco, CA. She was raised by her grandparents, John and Lydia Lunas, in Minot, ND. She graduated from Minot High School in 1953 and attended Minot State University from 1953-1954. Joan worked at the Minot Chamber of Commerce. Joan met her “dancing partner” Forest Durow while in Minot and they married on June 16, 1957. Joan and Forest moved to Fargo in 1957. After Forest graduated from NDSU, they moved to Bismarck, ND, in 1959.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Joan worked as a Bailiff for the South Central District Court System from 1979-1995.
Joan and Forest moved to Ecumen Seasons, Apple Valley, MN, on June 12, 2019.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Forest.
Joan is survived by her children Vicky (Gene) Limesand, Apple Valley, MN; Brenda (James) Brunelle, Fargo, ND; and Steven (Nancy) Durow, Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
