Joan Ely of Plano, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on Saturday, March 26, 1932 in Durant, Oklahoma to Ruby Arzelia (Holloway) and Adolph Losawyer, Sr.
Joan graduated from Durant High School. She then married Jim Lee Ely on September 8, 1951 in Waxahachie, Texas. She worked as a consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics. Joan was of Christian faith and was a member of the Prestonwood Church in Plano, Texas, where she would greet others and also volunteer with her church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim Lee Ely; and parents Ruby Arzelia (Holloway) and Adolph Losawyer, Sr.
Survivors include her son Joey Ely of Flower Mound, Texas; sisters Betty Lambeth of Dallas, Texas; Fredriva Hill of Madison, Alabama; brother Don Losawyer, Jr. of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren Geoff Gary of Sachse, Texas, Alesha Poteete of Royse City, Texas, Jackson Ely of Wichita, Kansas, Kaitlyn Ely of Flower Mound, Texas; great grandchild Landon Poteete of Royse City, Texas, Hudson Poteete of Royse City, Texas as well as other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas with Rev. Neal Jeffrey officiating. Graveside service will take place in the Whispering Waters mausoleum at 3:30 pm at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Jackson Ely, Dustin Poteete, Landon Poteete, Don Losawyer, Mike Losawyer, Fred Gary, and Don Davis will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Joan Ely can be made to the National Kidney Foundation and Prestonwood Pregnancy Center.
