Joan M. Englebert

Joan M. Englebert, 88 years old, passed away peacefully at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Primrose Retirement Community of Mishawaka, IN. Joan was born on October 28, 1936 in Tonet, WI to the late Elmer A. and Pearl J. (Bournoville) Jonet. On May 10, 1958 in Luxemburg, WI, Joan Jonet and Larry B. Englebert were united in marriage. Larry preceded his wife in death on October 12, 2023 after 65 years of marriage.
Joan and Larry moved from Wisconsin to South Bend in 1967. Joan was a great mother and sacrificed everything to raise her six children. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, reading, bowling, and playing scrabble and bridge. Joan was a great cook and was known for her homemade strawberry and raspberry jam. She was a woman of faith and trusted in the Lord. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her six children, Mike (Deb) Englebert of Mishawaka, Mary (Kelly) Moyer of Edwardsburg, MI, Dan (Lisa) Englebert of South Bend, Sally (Marc) Maloney of Elkhart, Jodi (Don) Finn of Osceola, and Tom (Kristi Palmer) Englebert of South Bend; seventeen grandchildren, Anne (Tim) Pressel, Michelle Englebert, Kelsey (Josh) Miller, Erin (Koley) Gee, Kristin (Jake Hershberger) Guzicki, Kassie Moyer, Sam Englebert, Rachel (Kevin Urban) Englebert, Erika (Don) Matz, Madalyn Fair, Alex Fair, Evan Maloney, Bryce Maloney, Anna Maloney, Nicole (Eric Gross) Finn, Ryan (Christina Lai) Englebert, and Sarah (Alex Rodriguez) Englebert; and twelve great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents, Elmer and Pearl Jonet; sisters, Ethelyn McClure and Eugenia Bins; brother, Mark Jonet; and her precious grandson, Kyle Moyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
