Obituary

Ruby Joan Marie Godsey

Ruby Joan Marie Godsey, 84, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Joan was born May 5, 1941 in Murray, Utah, to Beatrice Elizabeth Williams and Clyde Wilmont Duncan.

As an "army brat", she grew up and was educated in many parts of the country. Her father's assignments took her from Utah to Texas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Germany and back to Idaho and California.

Joan married Ronald Preston Godsey on November 20, 1962 in the Los Angeles, California LDS Temple. Ron preceded her in death May 1, 1998.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan was a missionary and was a teacher in all auxiliaries of the church.

Joan was a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting turtles and dolls, among other things. She was talented with crochet and was an avid reader. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling, RVing, and making many friends. She was a 2nd mom to kids who needed a grown-up friend.

Joan is survived by her siblings, Dean Woodland of Blackfoot ID, Bryan Duncan of Bakersfield CA and Brett Duncan of Ritzville WA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Beatrice Duncan; and her husband, Ronald Godsey.
