Joan "Grandmother" Gribbins, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, under the nurturing care of Hosparus.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James "Jim" Gribbins and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Gribbins.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Terry Gribbins and Rick Gribbins; her daughter, Susan Mathes (Kevin); granddaughters, Kasey Ryan (Jake) and Shelby Pursifull (Taylor); and her great-grandsons, Hollis James and Oliver McCoy Ryan.

Joan lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. She taught everyone around her the wisdom of one of her favorite sayings: "This too shall pass." She lived those words daily, meeting both life's challenges and joys with remarkable strength, optimism, and an unwavering spirit.

She was a founding member of St. Clement's Parish, a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, and an honorary member of the St. Peter the Apostle Friendship Club. She gave selflessly as a Red Cross volunteer and as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion and comfort to those in hospitals and nursing facilities.

The family extends special thanks to her devoted caregiver of nearly four years, Rhonda Baker, along with Nicole, Frances, Joy, and Sherry, for their compassion and care.

Her Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road, Monday, October 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens-West. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2-6 p.m. at Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home, 4832 Cane Run Rd.
