Joan M. Hage

Joan M. Hage, 83, of North Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Born on June 19, 1941, in South Amboy, New Jersey, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Strzykalski) Rappleyea. She was raised in South Amboy and, in 1960, made North Brunswick her lifelong home.
Joan dedicated many years of service as a kitchen manager for the North Brunswick Board of Education. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Milltown and an active member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was also a proud supporter of her community through her involvement as a committeewoman with the North Brunswick Democratic Club. Joan loved spending time in Atlantic City, but nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her grandchildren and attending their events. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Bernath.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Joseph Hage; her loving sons, Brian Hoiberg and his wife Stephanie, Michael Bernath, and Robert Bernath; her cherished grandchildren, Morgan and Braeden Hoiberg, Elizabeth, Brianna, and Brittney Bernath; and some extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Gleason Funeral Home of North Brunswick, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Milltown. Interment will follow at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
