Joan Frances (Barlow) Hawk was born on March 7, 1942 in rural Ewing Nebraska to Kenneth and Frances Barlow. She grew up in the Ewing/Inman area and graduated from Inman High School in 1959. After graduating, Joan moved to Omaha and attended business school and began working at World Insurance. On November 18, 1961, Joan married Leonard Hawk at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. This family was blessed with two children, Michele and Michael. Once her children graduated from high school, Joan’s interest and energy poured into creating her crafts. Inspired by their life on Cache Creek, her business quickly took off and led to over 15 years of weekend shows and lasting friendships. Joan had a lifelong love of beautiful flowerbeds and a yard with no boundaries - known to wear out a Snapper every year.
Her grandkids cherish time spent camping, special projects in her craft room; being chased by the water hose, and hunting eggs every Easter. Joan’s love of organizing and planning a trip, whether near or far, resulted in many memorable adventures for her and Leonard.
