Funeral Service for Barbara E. Schilousky, age 77 Laurel, NE formerly of Ewing, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Church of Christ in Ewing, Nebraska. Burial will be in Ewing City Cemetery in Ewing, Nebraska. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, Nebraska with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Barbara passed away on March 11, 2025 at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, Nebraska. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.snidermemorialfh.com
In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to the Church of Christ in Ewing, Nebraska and Pibel Bible Camp.
Barbara Ellen Schilousky born October 13, 1947 in Ewing, Nebraska to Alfred and Helen Schilousky. Graduated salutatorian from Ewing High School in 1966. She trained at Manpower in Grand Island, Nebraska for Secretarial work. Barb worked for the Nebraska Department of Education, in Lincoln as secretary in the G.E.D. Department in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Barb attended University in Kearney graduating in 1995 receiving a Masters degree in Speech Pathology. She retired from that job and started helping take care of her mom and older sister Dot. Barb’s life long passion was being a christian and serving others. She enjoyed being outdoors watching the birds, camping, gardening and her flowers. She loved children and that was what made her such a good teacher.
Survived by her sisters: Alvera and husband, Merle Anderson of Grand Island, NE; Debra and husband, Mark Imel of Eads, CO. Brothers: Alfred Schilousky of Wausa, NE; James and wife, Deb Schilousky of Ewing, NE; Gene and wife, Gwen Schilousky of St Paul, NE; and Joe Schilousky of Ewing, NE; and John and wife, RuthAnn Schilousky of Laurel, NE. Many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; brother Edwin Ernest; sister, Dolly Schilousky; sister-in-laws Roma May Schilousky and Becky Schilousky; and nephews Michael Schilousky and Edwin Steinke.
