Joan Hester Obituary
Mrs. Hester was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She graduated from Troup High School, Class of 1964, and later attended the University of Georgia. She went on to graduate from LaGrange College in 1979 as a Registered Nurse and practiced nursing for many years, including working as a Travel Nurse with ATC Nursing.
Joan loved to travel and was known as a very giving person who loved everybody. Her kindness, compassion, and servant's heart were evident both in her personal life and throughout her nursing career.
Survivors include her daughter, Candy Clay and her husband Bobby; brother, Chris Hester (Lorna); sisters, Phyllis Hester (Johnny) and Linda Jones (Michael); grandchildren, Ryan Clay (Maegan), Courtney Clay, and Elizabeth Upperman (David); great-grandchildren, Alena Clay and Ava Claire Clay; along with nieces, nephew, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Dr. Donald Yancey officiating. Interment will follow at Meadoway Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00–1:00 p.m.
