Joan Higgins, age 89, resident of Ralston, Oklahoma, joined the love of her life Dale Higgins in heaven on Saturday morning, May 24, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son in law William Webb, sister Lanois (Sperry) Reynard and brother n law Glenn.
Born to Willie Claude and Ida Madge (Carter) Sperry on February 12, 1936 in Blackburn , Okla. she was the youngest of two daughters. She grew up in Blackburn attended school there and later graduated from Blackburn High School.
Franklin Dale Higgins and Joan K. (Sperry) Higgins, high school sweethearts, were united in marriage on June 1, 1952. They established their first home in rural Osage County. The couple was blessed with four children Gary, Janet, Roger and Larry. In 1988, Dale and Joan moved to Ralston, which became their last home, they were together for over 65 years when he passed in August 2016.
Joan was a homemaker, always preparing delicious meals for her family and their ranch hands. She collaborated along beside her husband raising and tending to the cattle and horses. Her whole life was about her family. She loved them all dearly, always putting her family first.
Her enjoyments other than spoiling her family included working in her garden and meeting monthly with the Fun Club ladies. She also shared talent, time and treasure with the Church she loved – Ralston First Baptist.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Gary (Ivy) Higgins of Ralston, Janet Webb of Pawnee, Roger (Lesa) Higgins of Blackburn and Larry (Danelle) Higgins of Ralston; 13 grandchildren Jennifer Hight, Amanda Stierwalt, Brandi Branham, Kevin Webb, Kristal Zerr, Kimberly Tilley, Kasey Higgins, Jayden Higgins, Dustin Higgins, Hunter Higgins, Blake Formby, Chelsea Christian and Cassidy Payne. In addition, 26 Great grandchildren plus great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
The time of visitation will be 1p.m. to 4p.m., Monday, May 26 at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfax. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, the 27th at the Blackburn Cemetery, Blackburn Okla. with Pastor Lindee DeRoin officiating.
