Joan Johns

Joan Johns, 74, of Macclenny, passed away on November 14, 2025 at Life Care Center in Orange Park, under the care of Vitas Hospice.

She was born in Lake City on July 20, 1951 to Ollie Axtel Johns and Lorayne McCormick Johns Rhoden. Her early years in school were spent in Hilliard until the family moved to Macclenny, where she was a member of Baker County’s graduating class of 1969.

Joan moved to Jacksonville and was self employed for a number of years. She later returned to Baker County, where she worked for the Northeast Florida State Hospital for ten years until her retirement at 62.

Joan is survived by two brothers, Porter Bloxton (Barbara) Johns of Waycross and James David “Butch” (Ann) Johns of Glen St. Mary; a sister, Mamie Delilah Johns (Martin) Cole of Macclenny; as well as extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Guerry Forbes Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Pinkston Cemetery, 10154 Old Plank Road, Jacksonville on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Woods officiating.
