On Friday June 20, 2025, Joan Brackett Kautz went to meet her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her parents Lincoln and Dean Bruce.

Known to family and friends as "Jody" she was a 70 year resident of Fannin County and she spent 43 years teaching in Fannin County Schools before marrying John Kautz and moving to Ducktown, Tennessee. She loved the Lord and enjoyed worshiping and serving Him for many years at Liberty Hill Methodist Church.

Jody is preceeded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Tommy Brackett.

She is survived by husband, John Kautz (of the home), brother James (Katherine) Bruce of Talala, Oklahoma, Rebecca (Keith) White of Morganton, Georgia; nieces, Mary (Mitchell) Borges of Denton, Texas, Joanna Bruce Dyer of Norman, Oklahoma and Rachel White (Brandon) Nicholson of Blairsville,Georgia, and nephew Jamie (Shally) Bruce of Claremore, Oklahoma.

Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel, with the Rev. Geri Worley and Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating.

Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Morganton, Georgia.

The Family will receive friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
