Joan L. Van Dyck, passed away on October 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 29, 1940, Joan's life was a testament to her unwavering Christian faith and her deep devotion to her family, friends, and community. Joan's heartwarming smile and genuine kindness left an indelible impression on all who were blessed to know her.
Joan and her beloved husband, William, were united in marriage on June 25, 1960. Together, they cultivated a life full of joy and purpose, welcoming sons Jeffrey, Michael, and Timothy, and embracing each addition to the family with boundless love. The family tree flourished under Joan's nurturing care, extending branches wide with the joys of grandchildren-Brian, Tyler, Samantha, Heather, Erik, and Jason-and the delightful patter of 11 great-grandchildren.
Her early years were characterized by a diverse career path that saw her managing at Super America and expertly grooming poodles, combining her penchant for organization with her love for animals. Joan's professional journey found its pinnacle when she and William took on the esteemed roles of owner and operator of the Brass Lantern Supper Club. For over 25 years, Joan's multifaceted skills shone, as she became affectionately known as the hostess with the mostest, garnering respect and admiration from both staff and patrons alike.
Joan possessed an innate ability to make every individual feel cherished and welcomed, a trait that pervaded her personal and professional life. Her passion for her dogs, coupled with cherished memories of camping excursions, showcased her love for life's simple pleasures and the importance of treasuring every moment.
Survived by her adoring husband William, her sons Jeffrey (Vicky), Michael, and Timothy (Cathy) Van Dyck, her brother and sister-in-law Steve (Gwen) VandeLaarschot, and her treasured grandchildren Brian VanDyck, Tyler (Kayla) Van Dyck, Samantha (Luke) Boivin, Heather (Craig) Kruse, Erik (Katie) Kamarainen and Jason (Molly) Kamarainen along with 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Harriet (DeRidder) VandeLaarschot.
The Van Dyck family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday Oct 16 at the St Mary Catholic parish in Peshtigo from 9AM until 1045 AM. A memorial mass will be held at 11AM. Father Mike Lightner will be celebrating. Burial will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
