Passed away Monday November 14, 2022, at home. She was 80 years old. The oldest daughter of William (Bill) and Eunice Lawson was born on January 18, 1942, in Lando, West Virginia. “Joann” moved to Michigan in 1952 and attended school in Hemlock Michigan. She married the love of her life, Merle Liebrock on June 23, 1961, and went on to celebrate 60 years of marriage together. He predeceased her. Joan was a stay-at-home mom for her children’s early childhood and then went on to work at a few local business such as Michigan Sugar, and Saginaw Embroidery, before going on to work for and retire from Dow Corning Medical Plant in Hemlock with just over 18 years of service. “Joann” had many talents ranging from caring for orphaned animals (normally brought home without prior consent) crocheting, knitting, wood working, painting, and sewing. Her family and friends always enlisted her help in mending clothing and making quilts for them.
Surviving “Joann” are her daughters and their spouses; Robin and William Haag, Theresa and Gilbert Morgan, Angela and Scott Rinz, daughter in law Brenda Liebrock, nine grandchildren, Adrienne Rhode, Leslie Flattery, Merle Morgan, Brock Rinz, Lawson Rinz, Heather Gerwin, Nicole Liebrock, Danielle Liebrock and Lucas Liebrock along with 11 great grandchildren, her brother and sister and their spouses Bill and Jeanne Lawson, Carrol and Elmer Larsen, sister in laws Patricia Liebrock and Elaine Liebrock; many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her son Daniel Liebrock, her parents Bill and Eunice Lawson, her brother Freddie Lawson Jr. and an infant sister Dorothy Lee Lawson, brother and sister in laws Virgil, Vincent, Elton and Darwin Liebrock, Wilma Becker, and Geraldine Jackson.
The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 18 at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Pastor Weldon Townsend will officiate the service, followed by burial in Richland Twp. Cemetery. Friends may visit with family at the funeral home from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday November 17, 2022, and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Covenant hospital ICU, Covenant VNA Hospice Service, and especially to Cornerstone Caregiving and their amazing staff for taking such great care of “Joann”. The family would like to ask in honor of “Joann” to please consider becoming a blood donor.
