It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Joan Louise (nee Schmidt) Molloy.
Beloved wife of the late Bob Molloy, was reunited with her one true love on July 20, 2025. Joan endured the passing of her parents, Rose (nee Peterson) and Frederick W. Schmidt, and siblings Bob, Bill, Rosemary, Shirley, Mary Virginia, Tom and Susan. Loving mother of Rob (Kim), Kit (Dave), Matt, and Tom (Eileen). Grandmother of Bryan, Andy, Joel, Lindsey, Matthew, Lorin, Aaron, David, Sean, Katie, and Megan. Great grandmother of Aubrey, Grey, Lumi, Ezra, Ryan, Joey, Luca, and Lucas.
Mom loved her family and friends above all. She made every birthday, holiday or a simple meal something special. Desserts were always included along with decorations.
She was generous with her time, whether it was taking the grandkids to story time, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, or countless hours of volunteering at St. Rose Church. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary daily.
Mom and dad traveled the world together. They visited several continents along with cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. They really enjoyed their annual trips to Myrtle Beach with their circle of friends from high school. For ten years, she planned weekend getaways for the whole family.
Mom's interests were so varied but her true passion was gardening. Joan was an avid reader and also enjoyed quilting and making beautiful dolls, quilts and stuffed animals for her grandkids. Music also played a huge part in her life. Frank Sinatra was always her favorite.
In essence, mom lived her life to the fullest. A life well lived!
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 22, 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (2501 Riverside Dr.) where family and friends will visit from 9 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neediest Kids of All.
