Canandaigua - Joan Marie (Moran) Mueller, age 84, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, September 4, 2025. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lisa Hinman; cherished granddaughters, Sarah Miller, Ashley (Sean) Goodwin, Emily (Ali) Hinman, and Danielle (Andrew) Zaccaria; beloved great-grandsons, Landon, Colin, Aidan, Daniel, and Blake; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Linda Morris; brother, Jim Moran; brother-in-law, Paul Morris; and sister-in-law, Carol Moran.

Joan was born in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Harold and Mary (McGuire) Moran. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, class of 1955 and Canandaigua Academy, class of 1959. Over the years, she worked in many different roles including Rochester Telephone, social work for Ontario County, Canandaigua National Bank, and as secretary for Marvin Sands at Canandaigua Wine Company. In her later years, she retired as a greeter from Walmart, where her warm smile and friendly spirit welcomed countless faces. Canandaigua always held a special place in Joan's heart.

Her family was her greatest joy, and she considered them her proudest accomplishment. She shared her home with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren for 33 years, a blessing that allowed her to be deeply present in the lives of those she loved most.

Joan was a woman of many passions. She loved to travel, spend evenings playing cards, enjoy trips to the casino, and lose herself in a good book. She was also a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and rarely missed the chance to cheer on her team. Known for her spitfire personality, quick wit, and humor, Joan brought energy and laughter to every room she entered. Fiercely protective of her loved ones, she always stood up for her family and was their greatest supporter, cheering just as fiercely for them as she did for her beloved Buffalo Bills.

Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and devotion. Joan will be remembered most of all for the roles she treasured throughout her life-as a mother, grandmother, GiGi, sister, aunt, and friend. She filled each of these roles with deep love, loyalty, and pride, leaving a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 9, from 2-4pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
