Joan Elizabeth Nielsen (Robleto), age seventy-three, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025.
Joan was born on March 10, 1952, to the late Richard Alexander Robleto and Margaret Bernice Robleto (Dee). One of eight children, she was raised in
Levittown, Pennsylvania, and attended Pennsbury Senior High School. Upon graduating, Joan entered the workforce, beginning her career at RCA, now known as the David Sarnoff Research Center, in Princeton, New Jersey. It was during this time that she met Anthony Tocci, the father of her children.
Joan and Anthony married and lived in
North Brunswick, New Jersey, where they raised their family. Joan worked for North Brunswick Township in the Department of Human Services, running the after school programs and summer camps, leading community excursions, and dedicating herself to supporting children and families in her community.
Joan later relocated to Georgia to be closer to her siblings. While in Georgia, she worked for Nortel Networks. Several years later she returned to New Jersey and lived with her daughter, Amanda. She resided in Lakewood for a few years before settling in the Rossmoor community in Monroe, where she fulfilled a lifelong dream by owning and operating her own antique shop, lovingly named The Curiosity Shop.
Joan was deeply creative and artistic, with a passion for crafting and decor. If her grandchildren could dream it, she could make it. She took great joy in handcrafting dolls and collecting antiques. She loved to crochet and knit, draw, bake, and garden.
Joan shared a unique bond with each of her grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. She was a pillar of her community and neighborhood, and will be remembered for her warmth and generosity.
Joan was predeceased by her children's father, Anthony Tocci, as well as her siblings Richard Robleto, Margaret May, and Eileen Miles. She is survived by her beloved son, Dominic Tocci, and his wife Jennifer, her daughter, Amanda Mejia, and her husband Luis. Joan is also survived by her siblings Beverly DeRiggi, Christianne Pritts, Paul Robleto, and Vince Robleto. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Maya, Lorenzo, Alana, and Massimo, who were the light of her life.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home of North Brunswick, located at 555 Georges Road,
North Brunswick, New Jersey. A committal service and interment will take place the following day, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Mausoleum in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Joan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
