Sr. Joan Marie Paris

Sister Joan Marie Paris, 97, a member of The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis died at 2:20 AM, on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis Motherhouse in East Peoria, IL.
She was born on September 14, 1926, in Menominee, Michigan to David Joseph Paris and Theresa Sailer Paris.
Sister entered the convent on March 21, 1947, at Mount Alverno Novitiate, Peoria, IL. She received her B.S. in business at St. Mary College, Leavenworth, Kanas, M.A. and in hospital administration at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio.
During her 76 years in Religious Life, she served in the Business and Accounting Department at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria; as Internal Auditor at the Central Administrative Office, Peoria; Administrator at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington and St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. She served as Sister-In-Charge at the Convent in Rockford. In her later years, she was appointed to the position as Corporate Director of Quality Improvement, OSF Healthcare System. She retired to the Motherhouse on December 1, 2012.
Sister Joan Marie said that the most satisfying aspect of her vocation was her time spent in prayer, attending religious conferences, and sharing this with others knowing that she had helped someone in some way.
Visitation is at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Motherhouse. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Motherhouse, East Peoria, IL. Burial will follow services in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery at the Motherhouse.
