Joan Rae Pier, 91 of Columbus, GA passed away on August 22, 2025 at The Bethany House in Auburn, AL. Her family will have a funeral service in Maine, at a later date to be determined according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Pier was born October 2, 1933 in St. Johnsbury, VT to the late, Norman Goffrey Stark and Lucille Josephine Crofton Stark. She lived in Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut and Florida before moving to Georgia. After retiring from the University of Connecticut Computer Center, she had the opportunity to spend time in Maine and to travel. Her favorite trip was to Israel where she even had the opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River. Family was so very important to her, much of her time was dedicated to her hobby of scrapbooking to create many beautiful albums. She also loved writing letters and sending birthday cards to her many grands and great grands and keeping her mind sharp doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved serving the Lord and she loved her family and friends.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester A. Littlefield and then Russell K. Pier, a sister and brother-in-law: Lucille and Joseph Morin and her beloved son: Lee Littlefield.
Survivors include her daughters: Kerri Deal (Bill), Jodi Holmes, daughter-in-law Suzanne Littlefield, sons: Dennis Littlefield (Barbara) Wayne Littlefield (Linda) sister: Patricia Stark. Grandchildren: Craig Littlefield (Charity), Caitlin Grenier (Adam), Searle Littlefield, Kimberly King (Chad), Rachel Dowse (Justin), Steffi Patton (Nate), Jeremy Littlefield, Jaysin Decora, Crystal Lee, Nichole Lee, Benjamin Holmes (Megan), Johnathan Holmes (finance’ Nina) and Holly Nagel (Michael) and Samuel Holmes.Great grandchildren: Caleb, Dina, Jasmine, Adriana, Devon, Carter, Lesley, Hallie, Mason, Angela, Sarah, Elena, Bennett, Isaac, Brielle, Joanna, Wyatt, Emmalyn, Cayden, Gabby, Alayah, Ryan, Sammy, and Elizabeth,Great-great granddaughter: Nelleigh. Nieces and nephews: Michael Morin, Rob Morin, Janice Clohosey, Diane Roberts and many great nieces and nephews.
