Joan M. Redlon, 78, of Frontenac, KS, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on June 10, 2024, at her home in Frontenac, Kansas.
Joan was born on August 10, 1945 to Otto T. and Evelyn M. (Bruenjes) Bailey in Girard, Kansas. She moved to Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg schools, graduating from Pittsburg High School. She went to cosmetology school at Kansas State Teachers College (now PSU).
She married Charles (Bud) Redlon Sr. on December 7, 1963, at Pittsburg, KS. Bud and Joan enjoyed over 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2021.
Joan was a hairdresser for over 50 years in Pittsburg. She worked at Rowden's Salon, before opening her own salon, Royalty and then Royalty Too. She was a substitute teacher at Ft. Scott and Pittsburg Cosmetology schools and served on the Board of Adversary at Kansas State Teachers College.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jena Duff (Mike) of Pittsburg, KS; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Redlon (Briana) of Frontenac, KS; Greta L. DeMoss of Frontenac, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Joyce Redlon of Houston, TX; Aunt Rose Bailey of Frontenac, KS; and Eleven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Chuck Redlon Jr., Rick Redlon, and James Redlon and a sister, Sharon L. Kurtz
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (June 13th) in the Frontenac City Cemetery with Fr. Chris Rumback officiating. Burial will follow the service. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
