Joan Ellen Reed of Grahamsville, NY passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 19, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 77 years old. Joan was born on July 19, 1945 in the Bronx; she was the daughter of the late Maximillian and Lillian Handelman.
Joan married James Patrick Reed on April 2, 1966. They were well respected prominent local business owners having operated Reed Systems for over 42 years. James has since predeceased Joan.
Joan enjoyed being outdoors, going on walks with her pets and enjoying nature. She loved traveling and scuba diving and was a member of the Community Garden Club of Liberty.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Vanderwef and her husband Troy Hexter; her son, Jonathan Reed and his wife Kimberly, her grand-children Sarah, Dominique, and James; her great grandchildren Avery, Arya and Austin and her sister Judy Smith.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, February 22nd at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 Main Street, Ellenville NY. A Celebration of her life will be offered at 10am on Thursday, February 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Furman Cemetery.
