Joan Rohs Obituary

Joan Kerp Rohs
Born: June 20, 1930
Died: March 7, 2026
Greenville, NC – Joan Kerp Rohs, 95, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 2100 E. Fifth St., Greenville, NC, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. A visitation will be held prior from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park, Greenville, NC.
She was born on June 20, 1930, in Peru, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Ruth Kerp.
Joan grew up in Peru and remained there until 1980, when she and her husband relocated to Greenville, North Carolina. She married Carl Louis Rohs on January 28, 1951, in Peru. They shared a devoted marriage of more than 60 years, marked by love, partnership, and a shared joy of traveling the world.
Joan graduated from high school early and began working at Westclox in Peru, where she was employed for many years before dedicating herself fully to raising her children. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her daughter, Deb, and her son, Carl. When her husband's career brought the family to Greenville, Joan embraced the move and quickly became active in her church and community. She was never one to complain and always saw the bright side.
Joan was a lifelong Lutheran, and her faith was the foundation of her life. She modeled Christian love through her kindness, humility, caring nature and servant's heart. Her quiet but steadfast trust in God was evident in the way she cared for her family.
She found joy in baking, sewing, gardening and volunteering wherever she saw a need. Joan especially loved hosting family dinners and was known for the homemade cookies her grandchildren eagerly anticipated. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of happiness and fulfillment.
Joan will be remembered for her quiet strength, humble generosity, and steady, loving presence. Her kindness extended not only to her family, but also to her church, her friends, and even strangers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Rohs; her parents; and her siblings, Earl Kerp and Rita Lemler.
She is survived by her children, Deb Pomeroy (Brett) and Carl P. Rohs (Caroline); her grandchildren, Joshua Pomeroy (Jackie), Zachary Pomeroy, Sanders Rohs (Katie), Cameron Pomeroy (Olivia), and Elizabeth Rohs; and her five great-grandchildren, Everly, Emelia, and Eleanor Pomeroy, Lanier Pomeroy, and Callahan Rohs. Also her cat, Max was by her side for the last 13 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mid-East Commission Area Agency on Aging, 1502 N Market Street Suite A, Washington, NC 27889.
