Joan M. Ruddy

On June 17, 2024, Joan M. Ruddy passed away peacefully at home with her devoted son by her side (with her loyal emotional support "ducks", Quackie and T.J.).
Joan was born and raised in Binghamton, NY. Joan fulfilled her lifelong dream at the age of 18 by moving out of Binghamton. Life in New York City and later Miami brought great friendships and adventures. A brief employment with Pan American World Airways (and long-term employment of her sister and brother) took Joan across the globe. Joan later became a nurse, working with adolescents until her retirement at Hampton Behavioral Health Center.
Joan was a passionate fan of The View (though she had some thoughts on a few co-hosts). She felt strongly that television talk show hosts should coordinate their vacations to avoid re-runs. Her meatloaf secret was a packet of seasoning and saltine crackers. She was an avid (and critical) connoisseur of cheese danish. She was never without Chapstick. She hated birds (a lot). In the 1960s, she was questioned by police in Soviet-era Moscow after jaywalking; the police lived to regret it. Her voice, soft and assuring, calmed those in need and comforted her loved ones.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Emmeline "Emmy" Ruddy (nee Prior), her husband, Edward S. DiMarzio, and her siblings, Patrick Ruddy, Michael Ruddy, and Mary Lou Ruddy Karch. She is lovingly survived by her son, Edward P. DiMarzio; her sister, Elizabeth Ruddy; her brother, Joseph "Joey" Ruddy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing on Monday morning, June 24th, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1439 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery, 2398 Route 70 West, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your preferred organization supporting Joe Biden.
