Joan Patricia Russell

JOAN PATRICIA RUSSELL, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at home. She was born in Jersey City, NJ and resided in Piscataway, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp. 20 years ago.

She was employed as a payroll clerk for Johnson & Johnson, Piscataway , NJ prior to her retirement.

Joan loved all animals and especially loved spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Veronica Sawinski; and by her sister and her husband, Barbara and Ray Mahoney. Joan is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward Brian Russell; her sons, Mark Russell and his wife, Mary of VA, Brian Russell of NJ, and Chris Russell and his wife, April of NJ; her daughters, Cheryl Bendokas and her husband, Marty of HI, Debbie Siragusa and her husband, Ben of NJ and Leslie Celebre and her husband, Jeff of NJ; her grandchildren, Anthony, Veronica, Jessica, Brian Jr., Kayla, Cory, Matthew, Jake, Benny, Nicholas, Steven, Jennifer and Rocco; and by her great grandchildren, Cooper, Harper and Aubree.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, East Lincoln Avenue and Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joan's memory to Alzheimer's NJ, 425 Eagle Rock Ave., Suite 203, Roseland, NJ 07068 or to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724, and would be greatly appreciated.
