Margaret M. Sweeney

Margaret M. Sweeney (Peg), age 75, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Peg was the daughter of the late Charles V. and Eileen R. Ballback. She attended Molloy College for her undergraduate degree. While embracing her roles as a wife and mother, she went on to earn her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Kean University.

Peg built a rewarding 28-year career as a Speech Pathologist. She was known as a driven and accomplished professional-one who held herself and her colleagues to high standards while earning their love, admiration, and respect. Her skill, compassion, and tenacity left a lasting mark on the patients and teams she worked with.

Beyond her profession, Peg's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, shopping with her daughters, and sharing in the laughter and milestones of family life. She especially cherished the bond with her siblings, where time together was filled with stories and constant laughter. In retirement, Peg and her husband, Edward, traveled extensively and created a lifetime of memories exploring the world together.

Peg also found deep fulfillment in community. She became an active and beloved member of South Knolls in Jackson, where she not only enjoyed games of bocce but also organized and attended clubhouse events that enriched the lives of her neighbors and friends.

Peg was predeceased by her husband, Edward Sweeney; her sister, Katherine Montano; and her brother, James Ballback. She is survived by her children, Katherine Sweeney of Basking Ridge, NJ; Ted Sweeney and his wife Stephanie Hendershot of Ada, MI; and Eileen Sweeney and her husband Kenneth Dawe of Barnegat, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Charlotte, Violet, and Stella Sweeney; and her siblings, Maureen Bushman, Anne Healy, Ellen Hanrahan, and Michael Ballback.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial visitation from 3-7 PM

on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. Her Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. Please gather at 9:15 AM at the church.
