Joan Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jobe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.-Plum Chapel - Monroeville on Mar. 12, 2026.
Joan A. (Barton) Smith, age 74, of Penn Hills, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 31, 2026 in her home. She was born on February 2, 1951 in McKeesport, the daughter of Stanley E. and Mary (Yacksich) Barton, who preceded her in death.
Joan will be deeply missed by her husband of 30 years, James H. Smith, Jr.; loving children, Michael (wife Lisa) Weleski and Stacey Weleski; grandchildren, Michael and Ava Weleski; brother and best friend, Joseph (wife Estella) Barton; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends; her special dog, Lucy; and granddog, Herbert Willis.
Joan was a cherished registered nurse for over 50 years. She was deeply devoted to the nursing profession and caring for her patients. She had a knack for making friends very easily wherever she went. She was always there for her family and was truly the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 12-2 & 4-6 PM at Jobe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747), where a blessing service will be held at 6 PM.
