Joan M. Snowdon, 77, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born January 25, 1935 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Leonard and Ellen Lindholm. Joan graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1953 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked for over 20 years as deli manager for Super One Foods, retiring in 2000. Joan was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society and Friends of the Museum. She was an instrumental part of the WWII Glider Project. Joan was a great cook and she enjoyed looking through cookbooks and trying new recipes. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, overnight casino trips with her friends and passing the time on her Kindle Fire. Joan loved spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings and around the holidays. She is survived by three children, Lori (Ron) Noskey of Negaunee, Randy(Susan) Snowdon of Escanaba and Michael (Cara) Snowdon of Iron Mountain; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Ebertsch, Jessica Noskey, Jeff Snowdon, Ben Noskey, Michael Snowdon, Jr., Jennifer (Jason) Pepin and Desiree Calouette (fiancé, Steve); six great grandchildren, Osten Roberts, Ellie Pepin, Braiden and Braileigh Noskey, Olivia Ebertsch and Gavin Snowdon; four brothers, Leonard (Robin) Lindholm, Robert (Patsy) Lindholm, Roger (Kathy) Lindholm & Neil (Terry) Lindholm; her lifelong best friend, Armine Mattia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Joan was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Snowdon and a grandson, Jesse Snowdon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Neil, Robert and Roger Lindholm, Ron & Ben Noskey, and Jeff Snowdon. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Joan Snowdon online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com. The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
