Joan M. (Small) Staub, age 90, of Hanover, passed away on December 29, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran in York. She was the loving wife of William D. Staub; together they shared 32 years of marriage.
Joan was born in McSherrystown on November 7, 1931 to the late Charles and Lucille (Crowther) Small. She graduated from Delone Catholic High School Class of 1950 and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and crossword puzzles. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and an excellent cook. Joan was a retired office manager of Keystone Distribution and a parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Hanover.
In addition to her husband William, Joan is survived by her children Steven Lawrence and wife Cynthia of Gettysburg, Michael Lawrence and Sandra Lawrence both of Hanover, and Jane Alwood of Hanover who was like a daughter; her stepchildren Linda Smith and husband Greg of Philadelphia, William Staub, Jr. of Allen, TX, Donald Staub of Ortanna, Julie Staub and Angela Kristabek of Aspers, Randy Staub and wife Nancy of Hanover, Kimberly Clabaugh and husband Brad of Bonneuville, Wendy McMaster and husband Troy of Bonneuville, and d'Deette Almony and husband Bryan of Hanover She is also survived by her sister T. Elaine Smith of Hanover, 22 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Kuhn and brother Robert Small.
Due to the recent outbreak of COVID, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately by the family at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Hanover. Interment will also be private at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Murphy-Beck Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., of McSherrystown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory may be made to Jessica and Friends Community, jandfcommunity.org.
