JoAn Boatwright Strait, 81, passed away on October 29, 2025, at home in Rock Hill, SC.
She was born on 11/17/1943 in Sumter, SC, to Wayland D. Boatwright and Doris Marshall Boatwright. JoAn grew up in Rock Hill, SC. She graduated from Rock Hill High School. She attended York Technical College, where she earned a degree in Medical Technology. She worked at Chester Regional Medical Center. She retired in 2012 after 31 years.
She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
JoAn was preceded in death by her parents, Wayland and Doris Boatwright, her brother, Alan D. Boatwright, and her niece, Jennifer Boatwright. JoAn is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Strait of 48 years, one son, William R. Strait (Lisa) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, step daughters Sandra S. Foreman (Mike) of Odenton, MD, Leslie S Brown (Lavan) of Rock Hill, SC and Michelle S. Smith (Ricky) of Ringgold, GA. 12 grandchildren, Sydney M. Strait, Landon Strait, Erica B. Holt, Haley B. Lowery, Christie F. Hepburn, Michael Foreman, Brittany Willbanks, Kamryn Smith, Christian Smith, Josh Smith, Chasity Smith and Brooke Beaumont. 11 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandchild. Her sister, Brenda B. Hoover (Gene) of Rock Hill, SC. Her sister-in-law Johnny B. Boatwright of Blythewood, SC. Also, many nieces and nephews.
All Funeral Services will be Private. The family welcomes friends to reach out, as they will receive guests at Mr. Strait's home.
