Joan M. Stricker (Zygey) ObituaryJoan M. Stricker, nee Zygey, 92 of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Joan was born at Chicago, Illinois to the late Andrew and Frances Zygey. She met her husband, Walter P. Stricker while he attended Chicago Aeronautical University and in 1949, they were married after he graduated. They relocated to Ohio after their wedding. Sadly, Walter preceded her in death in 2016. they were together for 67 years.
Joan served as President for the Mother of Twins Club Summit County, Andrew Jackson Elementary School PTA, and Wyoga Lake Women's Club as well as volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and WAKR Crisis Hotline. She was active in both the Girl and Boy Scouts serving as Troop Leader and Den Mother respectively. Joan enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling with her husband, sewing and baking. She was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by daughter Kathleen (Robert) Miller, sons Michael (Kristi), Stephen, and Gregory (Lynn), grandchildren Robert (Loretta), Brian (Lauren), Chrissy, Codi, Clay (Ashley), Colten, Troy, Evan, Morgan, and McKenzie. Great Grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Chloe, Shylo, Cash, and Laney; sisters, Petricia Steinhoff and Frances Jeroutek, brother-in-law Joseph Stricker. She is predeceased by her sister Andrea Grabowski, sisters-in-law, Helen and Beverly Stricker; and brothers-in-law, Edward Steinhoff, Ronald Grabowski, and Martin Stricker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Catholic Church (3179 Kent Rd, Stow) on September 2, 2025 at 11:00am.
Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery immediately following.
