Joan E. Tiknis, a beacon of love and friendship, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Florida, at the age of 93. Born on November 24, 1931, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Joan's journey through life was marked the joy she found in the simplest pleasures of life.
Joan was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted mother to her son Richard and daughter Luann Tierney, and mother-in-law to David Tierney and Thomas Caufield. Her legacy continues to flourish through her beloved grandchildren Megan, Michelle, Mary Beth, Michael, Shannon, Ryan, and T.J., as well as her ten great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory.
Joan was a true partner in life to her husband, Anthony, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Her life was also touched by her sons, James and Ronald, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Tiknis, who all preceded her in death, leaving a space that Joan filled with remembrances and love.
After raising her family in Irvington, NJ, Joan moved to Brick, NJ, in 1979, and later settled in the vibrant Kings Isle Community in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 1998. It was here that she fully embraced her love for the sun, spending time by the pool, and lived an active social life among friends and neighbors who were drawn to her friendly and loving nature.
Joan's love for walking and her active lifestyle were testaments to her belief in embracing life with zest and vitality. Her footsteps on the pathways of Kings Isle were not just mere exercise but a reflection of her journey through life-steady, purposeful, and always surrounded by friends.
Joan E. Tiknis lived a full life, marked by the love she gave and the love she received. As we bid her farewell, we take solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and friendship will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Joan will be profoundly missed, but the memories she created will forever be a source of comfort and strength to her family and friends.
Services will be private for immediate family at a later date.
