With heavy hearts, the family of Joan Urich, 79, announces her passing on September 8, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Joan's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her love will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
Joan was born and raised in Elmhurst, Queens, where her vibrant personality and sense of humor began to shine. She later moved to Island Park with her beloved husband, the late George Urich, where together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Joan and George shared a deep devotion to one another, and we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Joan had a larger-than-life personality-she was funny, warm, and full of light. She could brighten any room with her laughter and always had a way of making people feel loved and cared for. To her family, she was the heart of every gathering, the source of strength in hard times, and the one who reminded us to find joy in life's simple moments.
Above all, Joan's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving mother to George, (Jeanne), Evelyn Worley, (Shaun), and a deeply cherished grandmother to George, Teagan, and Luke, who were the lights of her life. She adored them beyond measure and found her greatest happiness in being with them. Joan's love and devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother will remain her most enduring legacy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Christopher T. Jordan Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, followed by interment at Pinelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org (http://www.diabetes.org/).
Though Joan is no longer with us, her love, laughter, and spirit will live on in her family and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
