Joan Waldheim Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, and friend, Joan L. Waldheim, 88, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on May 5, 2025. She now joins her beloved husband Manfred (Manny), parents Curt and Hildegard Wengler, and brother Ralph Wengler. Joan is survived by her children Bruce Waldheim (RaeAn) and Karen Wilson, her adoring grandchildren Kyle and Tyler Roatcap, Jamie Cantrall, Tony Waldheim, and Kate Hann (Kevin) , and her great-grandson Dean Hann.

Joan embraced life with remarkable passion and energy, always on the go and deeply devoted to those around her. Even as Alzheimer's and dementia stole her memories and words, her active spirit persisted, seen in her determined "cruising" through the memory care neighborhood until just before her death.

From the slopes to the dance floor, the campground to the beach, and always with a song or piano melody, Joan lived life to the fullest. Her retirement was even more vibrant than her working years, and she had a rare gift for connecting with people, becoming a favorite of both friends and the staff who cared for her. Her zest for her hobbies enriched her life and the lives of others.

Please join us in celebrating Joan's vibrant life on May 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. Your presence and shared memories will be a comfort. Afterwards, the family invites you to continue sharing fellowship at her former home, 3727 S. Nelson Way, Denver, CO 80235.

In remembrance of Joan's spirited life, the family suggests either flowers or donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her name, in lieu of flowers.

Joan's vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
