Joan Marie Ward, age 88, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Hastings. She was born on September 18, 1937, in Hastings, the daughter of Lyle Fred and Velma Maxine (Rayner) Endsley.
Joan graduated from Hastings High School and went on to build a life centered on family, hard work, and enjoyment of the simple pleasures. On October 17, 1959, she married Raymond Harold Ward, beginning a loving marriage that spanned more than six decades.
Joan was employed by Viking Corporation for 30 years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, she fully embraced life. She loved gardening, music, dancing, bowling, and camping throughout Michigan. Joan especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and having a good time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Colleen Augustine; and her sister, Judy Weeks.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond Ward; her children, Randy Ward, Jody Ward, and Tammy (Bill) Ray; her grandchildren, Tia, Chad, Ryan, Nathan, Mickey, Nicholas, Crystal, and Tyler; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Janet Lord and Sharon Sixberry, along with many extended family members and friends who will remember her warmth and joyful spirit.
A service celebrating Joan’s life will be held at a later date.
