Joan Waters

Joan Waters of Boerne, Texas passed away on August 6, 2023 in New Braunfels, Texas.
Joan was born on November 4, 1922, in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, to Charles Henry and Nellie Violet (Shaw) Warburton. She was the beloved wife of Robert Eugene "Bob" Waters, whom she met while he was with the US Army training in England for the D-Day landings. They were married in January 1944 in Braunton, North Devon, England. Bob preceded her in death, as did her daughter, DiAne Kane, her parents, and her beloved brother, John Charles "Jack" Warburton, an RAF pilot who lost his life during World War II.
Joan is survived by her loving son, Odie and wife Melinda, caregivers during her long struggle with Alzheimer's, and son-in-law Bernard Kane. She was a cherished grandmother to Ashley Aguilar, Geremy Cope (and wife Joy), and April Cope. Joan had numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
During World War II, Joan served as a bookkeeper for Atlantic Coast Airlines, a civilian repair organization of RAF aircraft in England. After the war, she worked at Road Machinery Company in Phoenix, Arizona, where she dedicated 20 years of her career, while residing at Palm Lakes Village amongst many friends.
In her free time, Joan enjoyed singing, dancing, and laughing. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a fondness for red wine and pepperoni pizza, which brought her great cheer.
Services for Joan Waters will be determined at a later date.
Joan will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, to include Ron and Ging who loved and cared for her at the end, and the wonderful people at Heart To Heart hospice.
Her warm presence, loving nature, and zest for life will forever be remembered. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Safe travels Mom.
