JoAnn Amos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harmer Funeral Home on Feb. 9, 2026.
JoAnn Amos, 65, was called home to her farm in the sky on February 8, 2026, where she is reunited with loved ones and surrounded by animals and open pastures she cherished. She was born July 9, 1960, in Fairmont, WV, a daughter to the late Arnie Jr. Owens and Juanita Owens. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Arnie "Junebug" Owens (Diane).

She is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Billy Joe Amos, whom she married on May 13, 1979. She's also survived by her children, sons William Amos of McDowell County, James Amos (Megan) of Monongah; siblings Evelyn Owens of Lumberport, William "Buck" Owens (Sabrina) of Shinnston, Francis "Liz" Owens (Chris) of Enterprise, and James "Jimbo" Owens (Theresa) of Anmoore; grandchildren John Amos, Shyann Amos, London Amos, Colton Amos, Eli Amos; and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

JoAnn devoted her life to caring for her home and family. She found joy in cooking, keeping a welcoming house, and tending her garden, where she lovingly grew flowers and vegetables that she happily shared with others.

Nothing made JoAnn happier than being with her grandchildren. She loved every minute-celebrating their milestones, spoiling them when she could, and creating memories that will carry forever.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 2:00PM-8:00PM
