Funeral service for JoAnn Barnes, age 77 of Gadsden will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church. Pastor Caleb Caudel, Rev. Junior Croft, and Rev. Jeff Underwood will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time. Burial will follow at Plunkett Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Rome Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Barnes; son, Jonathan Barnes; daughter, Johnnie Faye Hunt; parents, Johnny and Magdalene King; sister, Jeanette Wanda Edwards; and brother, John Terry King.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice (Charles) Hanson; sons, Jimmy (Pam) Hunt, and Chip (Debbie) Hunt; grandchildren, Trina (David) Hall, Dustin (Hannah) Hunt, Shawn Poore, Madison (Cole) Elrod, and Marisa (Austin) Willoughby; great-grandchildren, Jermia Hunt, Jada Hunt, and Wren Willoughby; sisters, Joy Harriel, Joyce (James) Rowe, Jane (Hubert) Hulsey; brothers, Jerry King (Yvonne), and Johnny (Wanda) King Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was a member of Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church. She attended Ruhama High School in Dog Town. She retired from Fruit of the loom in Leesburg as a spinner after 30 years of service. JoAnn loved fishing and yard sales.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Centre, Alabama and Rome, Georgia. Also, a thanks to Dr. Peyton in Gadsden and Dr. Boggs at UAB.
