JoAnn Carson Obituary

Visit the Kincannon Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

JoAnn (Brewer) Carson was born on February 2, 1938, in Wellington, Texas, to Joe and Edna (Bruce) Brewer. She graduated from Blair High School in Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, David Duane Carson. JoAnn and David were united in marriage on January 28, 1955, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 66 years until David’s passing in 2021. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Kitty Jo Muller and John David Carson.

JoAnn was a beautiful and artistic woman with a deep love for learning and creativity. She was mostly a self-taught artist who found great joy in painting landscapes and still life on various media. She enjoyed reading fiction book series and how-to books mostly about improving your health. She read her Bible daily until she no longer could, and then she listened to it instead. She often read her Bible to her children and grandchildren.

JoAnn was also very knowledgeable about holistic healing and had a remarkable ability to recommend the right vitamins and natural remedies to help ease ailments and restore health. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Her BBQ brisket, roast and meat loaf were delicious. Her best times for herself were spent in her yard gardening and planting. She created a home that always felt safe, inviting and joyful; full of laughter, games, and food. She was a woman filled with love, grace and hospitality.

JoAnn was a deeply family-oriented woman whose love for her husband, David, was evident to everyone around them. Together, they modeled a relationship rooted in true love, commitment, and faith. They enjoyed their life together traveling, camping and fishing. Time spent sitting by a campfire watching a stream flow by a cabin was top of their list to do. Also, she adored sitting on a beach or watching it snow in the mountains of Colorado.

JoAnn was a devout Christian and was lovingly described by some as a “prayer warrior.” If someone needed prayer, they called JoAnn with complete confidence that she would pray faithfully. Much of her last moments were spent listening to hymns and singing along, lifting her voice in praise. JoAnn gave God all the glory, faithfully and unwaveringly, until the very end.

JoAnn passed from this life on January 22, 2026, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents, JW and Edna Brewer; her husband, David Carson; and her sister, Jan Struckman.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Kitty Jo Muller; her son, John David Carson and wife Tami; her sisters, Carolyn Keene and husband Fred, and Sandy Farrill and husband Todd; and grandchildren, J. P. Glover, Bonnie Jo Muller, Blair Carson, and Haley Carson, as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

JoAnn's memorial to celebrate her life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 420 Hughes Dr. in Blair, OK. on February 6th at 2pm in the fellowship hall.

Her final resting place will be next to her husband David in Blair Cemetery E1540 Rd. Blair, OK.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the family or to your local soup kitchen to feed the poor. JoAnn always had a heart for someone in need.
