JoAnn Marie Cherrey, age 85, passed way at her home in North Salt Lake on July 13, 2025. JoAnn was born in Perry, Michigan on May 27, 1940 to Alfred Sylvester and Lorraine Shirey. JoAnn was married to her husband, Kent, in Clearwater, Florida on September 3, 1983
JoAnn lived a full life and had many hobbies and interests. In her younger years, she often would have been found on a golf course. She loved to quilt and crochet, as well as make custom jewelry. JoAnn also loved spending time in her garden and would enjoy eating her home grown vegetables.
The Bible was important to her and she would often fill her time reading from its pages. JoAnn worked as a hairstylist and cosmetician for about 30 years. Playing card games with her family was also an activity that she loved. She especially liked to play gin rummy and hearts, giving her father-in-law the Queen of Spades.
Family meant a lot to JoAnn. She loved spending time with all of them, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Kent W. Cherrey; her 3 children, Carrie (Travis) Cuoghi, Patrick (Lita) Mulligan, Elise Peterson; grandchildren, Jessica Moreno, Dustin Cuoghi, Cody Peterson, 2 great grandchildren, 6 half sisters, and 1 brother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Sylvester; sisters, Sharon and Patty Sylvester; and a grandson, DJ Lindsey.
JoAnn's final resting place will be in Leadmine, Wisconsin.
